1987 Ayrton Senna Lotus Honda 99T F1 Nosecone

Genuine nosecone of the Lotus Honda 99T F1 driven by Brazilian Ayrton Senna in 1987.

Purchased from a former Lotus mechanic who acquired the part at the internal auction held during the liquidation of the Lotus F1 Team.

Piece numbered T6 with the original “helicopter tape” still stuck on the tip of the nosecone, indicating that this piece was used from the middle of the 1987 championship.

Shortly before his death in December 1982, Colin Chapman developed the idea of a Formula 1 car with an active suspension. This idea became reality in the form of the 1987 Lotus 99T driven by Ayrton Senna.

Ayrton Senna scored the last victories for the Lotus team between 1985 and 1987. After leaving for McLaren, Lotus never won another Grand Prix and finally disappeared at the end of the 1994 season.

6 Lotus 99T chassis were built in 1987. The T6 chassis, the last to be built, the lightest and at the same time the strongest, was invariably given to Ayrton Senna.
