Brawn GP was the surprise of 2009. Following Honda’s decision to withdraw from Formula 1 at the end of 2008, Ross Brawn acquired the team, negotiated the purchase of Mercedes engines and renamed the team and the 2009 Honda-designed single-seater in his name. Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button dominated the early part of the season, Button being crowned World Champion and Brawn GP Constructors’ World Champion.
Ross Brawn sold the team to Mercedes at the end of the season.
